Key Curriculum Documents

Our core Thornton TRAIN values are embedded within our curriculum. Our progression documents, and units of work, contain the strong core substantive and disciplinary knowledge that we have identified as essential in our school. This knowledge is built on and supports new learning in subsequent years. Coherence and connectivity ensures that knowledge, skills and concepts are introduced, built over time and regularly revisited.

Below you will find useful curriculum documents. Our curriculum design document gives an overview of the different elements of our ambitious curriculum and how our curriculum has been designed and delivered.

 Pedagogy

Our curriculum is underpinned by a strong pedagogy and is evidence informed. We have taken account of research based ideas about how children learn and used these to inform our approach to curriculum delivery. Our Pedagogical approach, through which our teaching and learning principles are embedded, ensures that the curriculum is delivered effectively so that all students are encouraged to reach their potential and make progress regardless of background and ability.
